The Wedding Ceremony of Shanna and Steve
I was ordained in the Church of Universal Life (which apparently accepts atheist/agnostics and allows us to perform weddings between atheist/agnostics and lapsed Mormons).  This ceremony was something I composed.  Some of it is original to me, though most is from bits of several ceremony texts I found online plus even a line or two lifted from my own wedding ceremony to my partner Dani by our Rev. Don.  Oh, and even a reference to a Beyonce song.  Shanna got a giggle out of that.
Introduction
Dearly Beloved, we are gathered together here to celebrate one of life's greatest moments.  Today we witness the joining together of Shanna and Steve in legally-binding matrimony.  Today marks the first day that we make official the union we've all recognized up to this point and we look ahead to the future.  Through marriage, Shanna and Steve make a commitment to face all the adversity and adventure together as partners.

SHANNA'S VOWS
 

TO GROOM: Do you, Steve, take Shanna to officially be your wife?  Will you love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy... for all eternity?

GROOM: I will.

TO BRIDE: Do you, Shanna, take Steve to officially be your wife?  Will you love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer, for better, for worse, in sadness and in joy... for all eternity?

BRIDE: I will.


Exchange of Wedding Rings

If you like it, do you have a ring to put on it?

TO GROOM: Steve, place this ring on Shanna's finger, repeat after me:
Shanna, I give you this ring as the pledge of my love... and as the symbol of our unity... and with this ring, I thee wed.

TO BRIDE: Shanna, place this ring on Steve's finger, repeat after me:
Steve, I give you this ring as the pledge of my love... and as the symbol of our unity... and with this ring, I thee wed.


Pronouncement

May you always share with each other the gifts of love – be one in heart and in mind – may you always create a home together that puts in your hearts – love – generosity and kindness.

You have pronounced yourselves husband and wife but remember to always be each other’s best friend.

And so, By the power invested in me via the miracle of the internet, I now pronounce you husband and wife.

You may passionately kiss the bride.
